Lesson Learned from Barack Obama’s Presidency: Have the Audacity to Hope and Dream

posted by Geo Friend-Lee on January 17, 2017

Just fifteen years ago people would have thought you were insane?
If you tapped them on the shoulder to tell them,
That a Black man with the name,
Barack Obama,
And a middle name of Hussein,
Would be a two term president of America,
Barack Hussein Obama,
He had the roots of Ella Baker,
The charisma of Muhammad Ali and the vision of Dr. King,
But more importantly,
He had the audacity to hope and dream,
So to the youth,
This is the truth,
When you are picking a school, a major or a future career,
Dream Big,
And when the Little birdie is in your ear saying no you can’t,
Simply because you are a woman or a man,
Or because of the color of your skin,
You can now look that birdie in the eyes with faith and pride,
and say,
Yes we can, yes we can, yes we can.
